6.7 Korean Drama: Take Care of the Young Lady

The one and only spoiled heiress and successor of the well-known company, the Kang-San Group’s ‘Lady Castle’, has lived the life of a princess for as long as she remembers. The immature and selfish brat easily gets what she wants without having to work hard and do laborious jobs, not until Seo Dong Chan insisted that she should do community service due to her reckless driving. The angry princess vowed to make Dong Chan suffer after she gets back from her service. But what awaits her will only turn her elegant life into a complete mess, because from now on Seo Dong Chan will be her personal butler. Will she be able to live with him by her side?

The Bratty Princess: Kang Hye Na

The selfish and immature Kang Hye Na lost her parents when she was young, this caused her grandfather to endlessly pamper her. Because of this, the little princess turned into a wicked witch without losing her crown. Men sought after her beauty and elegance, while women envy her to bits. A skillful horseback rider and a kendo master, she knocks down men who are unworthy of her perfection. Despite her power and wealth, she’s cursed with a rotten attitude and only the true love from her chosen prince can break the spell.

I find her character cute, like a female version of Goo Jun Pyo. Although I like her acting better in Goong and Coffee Prince. But I don’t dislike her here, I just prefer that latter ones more. I love her sleek and sophisticated fashion all throughout the series. Her unique hair also caught my eye. Although I like her best with little make-up. :)

    Prince Charming: Lee Tae Yoon

The dashing prince in a white horse, Lee Tae Yoon, the righteous attorney who is perfect in every way. With his good looks and family background, the second generation Chaebol is the perfect match for our Lady Hye Na. Although their personalities may be a total contrast, for Tae Yoon would rather work in shabby office to fend for himself, they still manage to make up for what the other lack. Will they be able to break the ice in each other’s heart?

The couple had such an impact during the first few episodes. I started rooting for the cute heir and heiress combination. But I felt a bit displeased with the couple’s sudden end, I felt that they lack closure. Tae Yoon’s cold attitude that slowly warmed up to Hye Na in the beginning made me like him and Hye Na together, but I guess the prim and proper lawyer is too perfect for the immature Hye Na. Since I felt like he lacked effort to win back Hye Na. His character is a bit confusing, but Jung Il Woo himself did admit that he was confused with his character. Although I see him as an uptight perfectionist who went a bit ballistic and out of proportion when he lost his girlfriend, but after a while he quickly recovered and accepted that fact that Hye Na doesn’t love him anymore. Well that’s how I would interpret his character. But still, even if everything seems complicated, one thing remains the same: Jung Il Woo does look like a handsome prince and my eyes can tolerate other things as long as I see his handsome face. :P LOL.

    The Butler: Seo Dong Chan

The former gigolo and Hye Na’s enemy is now her caretaker with a hidden agenda: to seduce the heiress. Despite his rustic appearance and robust ways, he is actually very caring and extremely warmhearted. A freeloader who can probably live in a jungle, now lives in an even scarier place, Hye Na’s palace. With Hye Na pulling every trick to drive him out of the mansion and with him using every strategy to woo her, how long will they play this game until they are both satisfied?

Although I’ve watched this before Secret Garden, I’m still going to say that I like Oska’s character more, but in a way he is both gentle and good with the ladies even if he is Butler Seo or the Adult Idol Oska. At first I couldn’t approve of their relationship, in the story Hye Na is 24 while Butler Seo is 32, in real life Yoon Sang Hyun is 11 years older than Yoon Eun Hye. But the way they fell for each other was inevitable. Since it was Butler Seo that melted Hye Na’s cold exterior and changed her to become a mature lady. Their love was rather pure so it became acceptable. :)

    CAT VS DOG

It’s kinda cute how both guys are total opposites, yet can still meet at a common point, when they both learned to love Hye Na. Butler Seo is like a Dog person, extremely loyal and playful. While Attorney Lee is like a Cat type, he can be sweet at the person he likes but can be a bit cold at times depending on his mood, his elegance is also like that of a cat. :)

But still, whichever way I look at it, Hye Na still has the upper hand. Those two are like wrapped around her finger. Although they were hard to tame at first, in the end they both learned to love and open up to the Castle’s Young Princess.

    EYE CANDIES~

Song Joong Ki made an appearance as the handsome Butler who got fired right away after asking Hye Na questions. (Episode 1)

This cute child, Kang Soo Min, is Hye Na’s cousin who also has a crush on Hye Na. He is so cute and blunt like her cousin. He is so adorable, especially when he starts defending Hye Na. :))

The cast is rather star-studded, with Yoon eun Hye from Goong and Coffee prince, Yoon Sang Hyun from Secret Garden, Jung Il Woo from The Return of Ilijamae, Moon Chae Won from Shining Inheritance and many more. The story has a few twists and turns, although predictable at times, it’s still fun to watch. Since this time, it’s the girl who has money. :P

6.6 Korean Drama: My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

For 500 years, the legendary nine-tailed fox is said to be trapped inside a painting. One stormy night, Cha Dae Woong hears a mysterious voices telling him to go near a painting of an eight-tailed fox. The voice commands him to draw another tail on the fox. The hesitant young man’s fingers shakes as he draws the ninth tail, and when he does, dogs started barking, the storm was furious as the place gets even darker. Dae Woong runs away from the painting, and accidentally falls from a cliff that almost ended his life. When he wakes up, a beautiful lady stands in front of him, probably hungry enough to eat his liver.

When your lover wants your liver, you have no choice but to make sure she is never hungry. Dae Woong accidentally freed the legendary Gumiho, the creature also happens to save Dae Woong’s life by giving him her most precious fox bead. In order to live, he accept her bead with one condition, Dae Woong must help her become a human.

    THE GUMIHO

In order to become a human, the sly nine-tailed fox lives by eating the livers of people. Taking the appearance of beautiful lady, she seduces men and turns them into her prey. Because of her bloodcurdling way to survive, men became aware of her true nature, thus in return she has never found a husband. After her great Grandma Samshin heard about this, she trapped Gumiho inside a painting to no longer cause problems among the town’s citizens.

Well, half of the legend is just a rumor though. The 500 year old beauty with superhuman strength is actually a victim of the women’s jealousy hundreds of years ago. In reality, the sweet Gumiho would be satisfied just by eating beef, beef and more beef. Which probably placed a huge hole inside Dae Woong’s pocket.

    THE WANNABE ACTOR

Cha Dae Woong lost his parents at a very young age, eager to make him happy, his grandfather and aunt gave him everything he wanted. The spoiled brat lived life according to his wishes, but when his grandfather decides to transfer him to a more humble school far from his hometown, the wannabe actor runs away and instead got into a more life changing situation.

During his little adventure, he meets the Gumiho, the one that both saved and endangered his life. She follows him everywhere he goes and eventually declares to be his girlfriend for 100 days, in exchange of the fox bead that restores his strength inside him. Even if he tries to run away, he always keeps coming back to her, despite the fact that beef is probably one of the most expensive types of meat in the market.

    THE HOT VETERINARIAN

Half-human and Half-goblin, Park Dong Joo has lived in the Human world for hundreds of years. An immortal being who is supposed to capture the escaped Gumiho. But when he learns that Miho is made out of his ex-lover’s remains, Kil Dal’s fire, he tries to fulfill her wish to become a human being. Calm but possessive, he attacks his rivals from their behind. When he asks Miho to drink his blood and keep the bead inside Dae Woong for 100 days so she can be human, he didn’t tell her that doing so would kill the bead’s receiver.

Hot and slightly emo-looking, his suppressed aggressiveness conceals his intense dark aura. He loves and cares for Miho, but does it in a subtle yet peculiar way. He may seem cruel, but his intentions are purer than it looks. He became the reason for Dae Woong’s childish jealously, as Dae Woong even went to his office for some dog related consultation just see if Miho is with him.

    THE PET-VET RELATIONSHIP

At times, it would seem like Dong Joo’s way of showing affection to Miho is the same as a pet-vet relationship. He cares about her, and would do anything to save her life, even if it involves killing someone else. He wants her to live. He’s protecting her so he would not repeat the same mistake he made a hundred years ago.

During the first few episodes, I wanted them to end up together. My heart was crushed every time Miho leaves him. The time he saw Miho, I thought they were perfect together. Too bad they didn’t have enough sweet scenes and cute events, and even if they did, Dong Joo’s feeling were never returned, since Miho’s love was always for her owner, err, I mean Dae Woong.

    THE PET-OWNER RELATIONSHIP

Miho follows Dae Woong, obeys him and clings to him. Dae Woong feeds her meat, asks her to stay at one place and even makes her guard their home. Miho is loyal to Dae Woong. Dae Woong becomes her caretaker, teaching her how to do human-like things, brushing and not eating everything included.

I love this couple, but I hated the noona. I guess the noona was one of the reasons why I didn’t initially loved this couple. But as time passes by, I fully supported this crazy yet adorable pair. Dae Woong is such a charming guy, I would love to have a boyfriend like him. :)

Ok, so I love No Min Woo’s face. But character beats the outer appearance, so I fell in love with Dae Woong. Dae Woong’s cute, Dong Joo’s hot. Their contradicting personalities would make it hard for you to choice who you like best, Miho’s amazing for not being confused. Dae Woong’s outspoken personality, would draw you in. But Dong Joo’s air of mystery can seduce you anytime. :P

I love the Hong Sisters, from Sassy Girl Chun Hyang to You’re Beautiful, again this is another amazing masterpiece made by them. The characters and the actors portraying them are perfect. The story’s a roller coaster ride, I cried, I laughed, I got angry and above all, I fell in love. This is probably one of the best dramas I’ve watched. This was shown while I was waiting for Mary Stayed Out All Night to air, due to boredom, I watched it for fun, now I know that I did the right thing. :)

After the long wait, this time, will the Gumiho’s wish to become a human ever be granted? Watch this, I promise, you won’t regret it. :)

    6.5 Korean Drama: Dream High

Kirin Art High School specializes in training students to become top stars in the Korean music industry. Hundreds audition, few are chosen, but only a handful are destined to be on top. Who will rise above the rest?

    THE COUNTRY BOY

Song Sam Dong, the naive country boy whose hidden talent is yet to be revealed. He was especially chosen by Kirin’s principal Shi Bum Soo, but didn’t seem to be interested at first. He was eventually persuaded by Hye Mi, thanks to her seducing techniques. Without knowing what’s in store for him, will he find his place in Kirin?

The HyeMi-SamDong loveline started out with only Sam Dong liking her and her faux character, which helped her win his heart so she could take him to Kirin. Their love story was leaning towards a sweeter, closer and friendlier route. Truthfully, I’m a fan of this couple. I love how they help each other, and how they’ve grown into better people together. :)

    THE SPOILED BRAT

The spoiled brat, Go Hye Mi, is on her way to say good bye to her luxurious life. When their family took a huge blow because of her father’s bankruptcy, her dreams to become a classical singer shattered into pieces. She then auditions in Kirin to be able to pay for her father’s debts, but she won’t be able to continue her education if she doesn’t find the other two chosen students.

    THE RIVAL

Hye Mi’s so-called pet, her fan that she unconsciously treats like she’s her personal slave, is now her biggest rival. Betrayed by her best friend, Yoon Baek Hee vows to surpass Hye Mi in any way possible, even if it means stepping on other people. The new Baek Hee is the monster Hye Mi created; filled with envy, anger and hatred, her goal is to destroy her own creator.

The robot-like Hye Mi and the sweet Baek Hee slowly switches personalities, with the other changing more drastically than the original, for the better and for the worse respectively. While Baek Hee’s heart becomes blacker than coal, Hye Mi slowly repents for her sins as she turns into a mature individual in the process.

Truthfully, Eun Jung is a great Baek Hee. Her acting is intense, and you could feel the cold and evil aura coming from her. As for Suzy, I wasn’t impress in the beginning. I felt that Hye Mi should have more emotions. But in the end, she was able to convince me. So it was either Hye Mi is really a person with less emotions, or the writer’s must have adjusted her character to her acting or personality. And it worked.

    THE STRAY

Overshadowed by his father, Hyun Shi Hyuk decides to live on his own with the name Jin Gook. Although living on his own and actually living a life is different. As he tries to find his reason for living, he meets his childhood friend Hye Mi and together they find their own dreams and a reason to live.

I’m not exactly a fan of this pair, but their were times when I start liking them together. Their love line is more romantic and had more couple-like moments.

The tree lovebirds are living under one roof, forming an unpredictable triangle. In the end, who will win Hye Mi’s heart?

    THE UNDERRATED

Kim Pil Sook, the girl whose chubby appearance overshadows her golden voice, thus hinders her debut and halts her love story with the popular guy Jason.

    MR. POPULAR

The student from overseas who excels in both dancing and singing, the extremely popular and handsome Jason has caught Pil sook’s big heart. The gentleman whose kind nature caused a problem, especially to Pil Sook who, according to Hye Mi, is starting to become delusional and is over analyzing Jason’s kind acts.

After confessing to the Cocky Jason, Pil Sook is now determined to confess once more after she loses weight. For 200 days, she undergoes a strict diet to finally lose 30 kilograms. Will her efforts win back Jason? Or will it turn into a futile torture?

The Milky Couple is my KYA~♥ KYA~♥ couple. XD They are so cute and adorable together! I want to pinch their cheeks! I love both actors here, IU did a great job. She and Pil Sook are both so cute. While Woo Young is just so adorable. I wished they had more scenes together. I just love them. :)

With the six chosen ones, who will climb all the way to the top?

Produced by Bae Yong Joon and Park Jin Young, the idol-studded cast consisting of Miss A’s Suzy Bae, T-ara’s Ham Eun jung, IU, 2PM’s Ok Taec Yeon and Jang Woo Young, the drama is filled with doubts and expectations. As for me, the drama was able to live up to what I’ve expected. Although some of the cast were newbie actors and actresses, the staff were able to pull it off since their characters were mostly near their actuals personalities or maybe even adjusted to the way they act. For all the idols, I give 10 claps to Ham Eun Jung, she was really in character. Her portrayal is one of the bests in this show. Kim Soo Hyun also did well in becoming an idol, since he is actually an actor. His singing voice and dancing can also be compared to trainees and real idols. I like his voice, he just needs more control over it when singing live. But for someone who just trained for months, it’s actually quite impressive.

I love the set, I wish our school was like that. -.- The place looks comfortable with a slightly artistic feel. The uniforms are also pretty slick. As for the storyline, I’ve often wondered who will Hye Mi end up with, and also who is ‘K.’ The story development is quite smooth flowing, and the way the characters change is also worth anticipating for.

The necklace has been passed down. Who will be the last to hold it?

    “Dream High.”

    6.4 Korean Drama: Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Long before F4 was born, in the great Sungkyunkwan University, an equal number of flowers boys with equal charms reside: The Jalgeum Quartet.

Lee Sun Joon A.K.A Garang, the perfect husband. Rich and uptight, a perfect gentleman with brains that would match scholar’s. He’s the type that would never go against the laws and would always choose what he believes is the right thing to do. He has values and he sticks with them. The serious and studious guy with rank and status, he would definitely secure a lady’s future.

Moon Jae Shin A.K.A Geol Oh, the wild horse. A bad boy with a hidden soft side. He may break your door, your window and probably your whole house, but he will never break a girl’s heart once he falls in love. With his roguish style and strength, he is the one you can rely on to protect the person he treasures the most. I guess taming a wild horse isn’t as hard as it looks.

Goo Yong Ha A.K.A Yeorim, the Women Forest. A stylish playboy who loves to joke around. He is bright and playful, an epitome of youth. If you want a boy who will go shopping with you and talk more than you do, he is the one you should call. He’s good at flattery but is also very straightforward. With his pretty face and eccentric wardrobe, he usually stands out. Oh well, he is Goo Yong Ha after all. *opens fan* :)

Kim Yoon Shik A.K.A Daemul, the Big Thing. Despite his feminine features and clumsiness, he is the only one who was able to capture the beautiful gisaeng ‘Cho Sun’s heart. Intelligent and hard working, although he has come from a humble family, the king especially chose him to study in Sungkyunkwan University. But what if the great Daemul is actually a girl named Kim Yoon Hee?

There’s a big secret in Sungkyunkwan that can not be revealed!

Starring DBSK’s Micky Yoochun as Sun Joon, Park Min Young as Kim Yoon Hee (Kim Yoon Shik), Yoo Ah In as Moon Jae Shin and Song Joong Ki as Goo Yong Ha. The eye candy worthy casts are about to embark on a secret journey while also keeping Yoon Hee’s identity unrevealed. But how long can she hide her true self?

A modern-day drama disguised as a historical drama, this is definitely worth your time. Focused on 4 university students as they learn about life and love. A bit of a gender-bender in some ways, since it took a while before Sun Joon learned about Yoon Hee’s true nature and he was already falling in love with her thinking that ‘she’ is a ‘he.’

I love these three guys, although I thought for sure I’ll fall in love with Yeo Rim, but in the end I loved Geol Oh the most. Song Joong Ki is such a cutie, this pretty boy made me fall for him in real life. It’s also cute to see that Song Joong Ki actually studies in the modern day Sungkyunkwan University. As for Geol Oh, I love his character. ♥ How I wish I had a brother or a best friend like him. T_T Even if I wanted him to have Yoon Hee, I’m still satisfied with Sun Joon getting her in the end. I also love Geol Oh’s acting, he’s a flexible actor, seeing that he even started in Antique Bakery. Yoo Chun is not bad himself, he’s a convincing Sun Joon. :)

It’s a very good drama that focuses on more than one genre but is able to blend them well. So if you want to see F4’s ancestors, watch this one. Kidding about the former. :)

    6.3 Korean Drama: Secret Garden

On a rainy day, what if you suddenly wake up inside someone else’s body? Kim Joo Won, the arrogant CEO with a perfect image exchanges bodies with Gil Ra Im, a mere stunt woman. As they struggle to get their own bodies back, the two tries to live the other person’s life as normal as possible while learning a thing or two. And one of them is that kissing to break the spell would only work in fairytales. Would the two complete opposites ever get their bodies back? The answer lies within the secret garden.

In the world of business and entertainment, Kim Joo Won and his cousin Oska is at the top, while Gil Ra Im is considered as a lowly stunt woman and Oska’s dedicated fangirl. But things becomes complicated when Joo Won mistakenly thought that Ra Im is Oska’s ex-girlfriend, actress Park Chae Rin. Since that day, Joo Won seems to be full of thoughts about Ra Im, he can’t forget her. And so that stalking starts. Even if Ra Im pushes him away, he still follows her. But what Ra Im doesn’t know is that this guy in a blue gigolo-worthy tracksuit is actually the president of a top company!

    The Eccentric Claustrophobic CEO

His cold words, sleek home and eccentric style, the man that probably has everything, slowly his world starts to revolve around a girl named ‘Gil Ra Im’. He’s a living example of the modern day prince. With good looks, a sharp tongue, and the intellectual ability to back up his harsh words. His bratty personality maybe top-notch but so is his value and worth. He’s the CEO that everyone is afraid of, but at the same time his cool vibe is what keeps the girls lining at his doorstep.

And he is totally my type. I guess I’m into the whole “snob-on-the-outside but actually caring-on-the-inside” type of guys. This guy is so talkative, not even a gossip girl would match his fast mouth. I love how blunt and honest he is. He says what he thinks right away but can still make sense. He’s a rare specie, so I’ll probably just continue my fantasy in my dreams. :P

Hyun Bin’s an amazing Joo Won. I noticed that he’s good at portraying the “rich boy with an attitude” character. He’s such a good actor. I like him both here and in Kim Sam Soon. But the Hyun Bin in SG is totally my type. (Too bad he’s 31. T_T Oh well, Ra Im is about 29, so I still have a chance. XD Kidding.)

    THE UNPREDICTABLE STUNT WOMAN

“She cold and she’s cruel but she knows what she’s doing.”  She’s just that type of girl. She fights with Joo Won but would try to look cute in front of Oska. She’s bitter and sweet, but she’s more of the latter.

Gil Ra Im is strong and brave with a pure and sweet side. I love her character. She’s an independent woman who doesn’t need to rely on men, instead she shows them that she can be their equal. I love it when she smiles and starts being girly, but still manages to keep her cool aura. She never overdoes it and always maintains a good balance between her two contradicting personalities.

Ha Ji Won is an amazing actress. There’s a huge difference between Hwang Jin Yi and Gil Ra Im, I was impressed. She’s also so lucky to have both Jang Geun Suk and Hyun Bin as her partner! :)) I love this girl, and her legs are sexy. (“Sexy legs Ha Ji Won” from Wondergirl’s So Hot)

    THE (ALMOST RETIRING) IDOL

The legendary idol, a shining star and a real playboy. Although he treats women with care and respect, it’s hard to take off the fact that he still loves women, almost all of them, especially the pretty ones. But you can’t hate him, he doesn’t treat girls like toys but rather like jewels. But there is only one rare jewel for him, and that’s Yoon Seul.

This guy, it’s kinda hard to believe that he’s still a beginner in variety shows. He is such a good actor and a funny one too! If he goes to variety shows, he can just pull off an Oska. XD His singing is also good, I still have his songs on my cellphone. XD Oska oppa fighting~!

    THE SEXY DIRECTOR

A witch or a fairy, it’s hard to choose who she really is. She’s as sly as fox but inside she’s as fragile as glass. The talented director is out to direct her ex-boyfriend’s video shoot. Will they ever get back together?

The rival that I have a love-hate relationship with. One episode I’d hate her, then next time I’d pity her but in the end I adored her character. She’s not that bad and it’s not entirely her fault she turned out that way. I can’t really hate her since Joo Won never really liked her. :P She’s Oska’s anyway. :P

Kim Sa Rang, how can already be 32 years old when SG started to air? She’s so pretty and she has a very nice body. Now that I think about it, Ha Ji Won was already 31 then, and Hyun Bin’s actually 3 years her junior. Almost the opposite of their ages in SG. And yet, you couldn’t complain. Their age didn’t show on the women’s faces and I guess that’s the reason why Hyun Bin had to lose weight.

    ~*~

    EYE CANDY

Lee Jong Suk (Han Tae Ssun in SG) is my oppa. Kidding. XD I just love him. XD If he had Joo Won’s character, I’d definitely still be insane by now. XD When I was still watching SG last December, I went crazy when I saw him. I’d be jumping and slapping my friend whenever he shows up, even if it were just a measly one minute screentime. His looks are the ones I’d go for. XD My friend says I like guys that look like him. :P

    ADORKABLE COUPLE

Im Ah Young and her boyfriend, Secretary Kim are one of the cutest and most adorable couples ever. XD I love Ah Young’s carefree personality and Secretary Kim’s dorky side. :)

    ~*~

    FOAM KISS

One of my favorite scenes ever! Joo Won and Ra Im would always be an unforgettable couple. There’s this undeniable chemistry between them. I got frustrated during the first few episodes. But after they finally got together, I was so happy I could fly. :P All the trials they faced, the way the plot developed along with the characters, the character’s consistency and even the scenery, it was almost perfect.

I’m just so amazed with this drama. I thought it would be just another TV show with a cliché storyline, but SG proved me wrong. It was better then I expected, it surpassed the other Kdramas I’ve watched. Right now, this my favorite. And that my friend, is no secret. :P

    6.2 Korean Drama: Playful Kiss

They say that there’s a fine line between a genius and a klutz. The prodigy Baek Seung Jo receives a love letter from a girl whose rank is below rock bottom, Oh Ha Ni. After Seung Jo humiliates her by correcting her love letter’s grammar and spelling, Oh Ha Ni vows to forget him. But when Oh Ha Ni’s house collapses because of an earthquake, she and her father had to move at her father’s old friend’s house, which also happens to be Seung Jo’s residence. At this rate, will she ever forget him? Or will he eventually fall for her and break that line?

Based on the manga, anime and live-action “Itazura na Kiss” and the Taiwanese remake, “It Started with a Kiss”, “Playful Kiss” is yet another adaptation from Korea. I’ve watched the anime version and a little bit of the Taiwanese version, and I have to say this is the cutest version yet. Seung Jo and Ha Ni’s scenes are not that intimate, yet it will leave you giggling and smiling while watching because of their undeniable chemistry and sweetness. Although you will only appreciate those scenes to the fullest after seeing what they’ve been through, from a simple high school crush to being newly weds.

    THE PROGIDY

Ranked as #1 in terms of intelligence and appearance, Baek Seung Jo is also #1 in Oh Ha Ni’s heart. Will Ha Ni ever melt the heart of this cold hearted genius?

I’m attracted to guys like Seung Jo. T_T Seriously, the perfect guy with perfect grades and a perfect face, his cool aura and contradicting personalities, he acts cold but inside he’s actually very caring. Oh, the typical dream guy. I think Hyun Joong did well with the cold part, although he could have done even better. Or I guess that’s just his treatment to the Seung Jo character. He always gives the “I don’t really care” look and when he smiles a little, it’ll make you feel giddy inside. His reactions are limited, but judging Seung Jo’s character, I guess he isn’t really the type to show a lot of emotions. So I guess he did well. He is pretty good at bring out “The Prince” in every character. *Ji Hoo, ehem*

But personally, I think the real Hyun Joong is still the best. XD His real personality is just out of this world. XD I love him for that. XD

    THE KLUTZ

Ranked as, err, probably somewhere near the last place. Will the cheerful and easy going Ha Ni prove to Seung Jo that grades are just numbers and that her love is infinite?

Oh Ha Ni’s my favorite character! Others may find her annoying, well I think she’s cute. Her acting is so natural, it’s almost like that’s the real her. I like her version of Kotoko, she’s not exactly dumb, she’s just not academically smart. Plus she’s good at art, so at least here she actually has talent. I also admire her devotion to Seung Jo, others may say she has no dreams of her own or her life depends on Seung Jo, it’s partially true but isn’t being a loving housewife a dream too? It’s an especially kind dream. Also, judging at her academic ranking and human nature, she’s actually perfect to tame Seung Jo, and that’s not an easy job. She gains strength from Seung Jo and vice-versa, they teach and help each other. In other words, they complete each other. So she’s not completely useless as others perceive. I really love Jung So Min’s portrayal. :)

    HANI AND COMPANY

Birds of the same feather, do flock together. Although they all are know for having low test scores and have kept a record for having the lowest ranks possible, these bunch all have unique talents that even grades can’t measure.

Bong Joon Gun has always had a one-sided unrequited love for Ha Ni. For ten years he has loved only Ha Ni. But Ha Ni likes a guy who is the complete opposite of him. Despite his unusual fashion sense and failing marks, this guy is a good cook. Even if Ha Ni doesn’t return his love, he still works at her father’s restaurant, believing that he can one day be a chef and inherit her father’s business. So in his mind, they may live happily ever after. Too bad Ha Ni has other plans.

Min Ah and Joo Ri are also part of the lowest rank clan. They may not excel academically, but Min Ah has her drawing and animation skills while Joo Ri is the girl you can trust with your precious mane.

These three are great friends, they love Ha Ni and Ha Ni loves them. They support each others dreams and decisions. Although I love Min Ah the most. Maybe it’s because her interest is similar to mine.

From the director of Goong, Hwang In Roe. Here comes another sweet story that wouldn’t be complete without some adorable bears. I like the director’s style, I can see some big and even subtle similarities in the way Goong was treated. The most evident would probably be the use of bears. It’s just so cute.

I was drawn into the story maybe because I can somehow relate to Oh Ha Ni, I’m a stalker in my own way. Kidding. I guess we just have the same taste in guys and a little of the same reactions. :) I watched this a long time ago, and yet after seeing them again, I get that fluffy feeling again.

I love the characters! Seung Jo’s mom is just TOO lovable. She’s so cute and pretty. I also like his bratty brother. :P I just love handsome kids, it would always make you ask “Do you have an older brother?” Kidding. :P

Overall, this is in my top 10. Grade is probably above average, since it’s under my favorite genre. Although I’ve watched better kdramas, Playful kiss is just too lovable and easy to watch. I’m definitely recommending this.

6.1 Korean Drama: Mary Stayed Out All Night

    MARY STAYED OUT ALL NIGHT

Making a drama within a drama, Mary Stayed Out All Night is strikingly similar to Wonderful Day, the drama Jung In (Kim Jae Wook) is producing. The success of Wonderful Day is in the hands of its production team. Will it be a hit or a flop? Let’s evaluate their team.

    THE PRODUCER

As he transforms from Coffee Prince’s Waffle Guy into the equally hot Director-nim, without sacrificing his cool and mysterious vibe, Kim Jae Wook portrayed the rich producer of Wonderful Day, Byun Jung In. The guy unintentionally got everyone to work together as he pursues his dream of producing Wonderful Day. Despite being capable, he still depends a lot on his father. He thinks highly of his father and obeys his commands without second thought. Thus agreeing to marry someone he has never even met for the sake of his father’s investment and approval of his upcoming drama.

    THE ACTRESS

Jung-In’s goal is to produce a top quality drama, he wants an actress who is versatile, flexible, someone with real acting skills and experience to back that up. Seo Joon (Kim Hyo Jin) was the one to fill all his expectations. But working with the perfect actress may have its drawbacks. The fickle-minded Seo Joon is one big drama queen, on and off screen. The drama would have been able to sail smoothly if the music producer wasn’t Seo Joon’s ex-boyfriend.

    THE SINGER

Flower Homeless Guy in HongDae, Kang Moo Kyul (Jang Geun Suk) the main vocalist of an indie rock band got recruited by Jung In. Although he’s not as rich as Jung In, he is quite blessed with good looks and musical talent. But the guy every girl dreams of has no intention to get married. Well, not until Wi Mae Ri crosses his path and asked him to have a faux marriage with her for 100 days. The problem is, what if one of them falls for the other, will his view on marriage ever change?

Kang Moo Kyul is like the still-the-same-yet-somewhat-different version of Hwang Tae Kyung, although they are both singers, I could tell that their souls are different. Moo Kyul’s aura reminds me more of Moon Chul (from Royal Pirates), although Moo Kyul and Tae Kyung do have the same killer smile.

In this drama, the OSTs played a huge role in building up the dramas overall feel. My personal favorite is “Hello, Hello”, Mae Ri and Moo Kyul’s so-called Baby. The songs fits perfectly with the dramas refreshing feel. Although in MSOAN, Jang Geun Suk is the frontman of an indie rock band, in real life Kim Jae Wook is actually the frontman of Walrus, a real indie rock band.

    THE ASSISTANT WRITER

There wouldn’t be a story without a writer. Wi Mae Ri (Moon Geun Young) dreams to become a screenwriter and Jung In was able give her that chance as she assists ‘The Writer’ of Wonderful Day. Her positive attitude is what I like the most. She’s cute and naïve, but not to the point that she could be annoying. Despite not being able to finish her course in college, I can say that she’s not the typical dumb innocent girl. She’s street-smart, wise and talented, thus giving her character more color. The way she gives comments to Wonderful Day is like giving comments to the actual script of MSOAN. It’s almost like taking a peek into the making of MSOAN.

Moon Geun Young never disappoints me. Her acting is something I always look forward to, her image from ‘Innocent Steps’ as the faux foreign dancer to Cinderella’s step sister were no where to be found in Wi Mae Ri’s eyes. As if they really were different people. But one thing never changes; her young face that never seems to fade. Despite being 24 in the story (and in real life), she and Moo Kyul are more like rebellious teenagers.

With a gifted team, will Wonderful Day be successful? Or will its success be hindered due to personal issues and conflicts within their production team?

From the makers of Full House (Comic Book Writer Won Soo Yeon and Chief Producer Jung Sung Hyo), Goong (Screenwriter In Eun Ah) and 18 VS 29 (Screewriter Go Bong Hwang), here comes another batch newly weds, Mae Ri is now added to their list of upcoming brides, but who will be her husband?

Since the original story is based from a manhwa, it did have an anime-manga like feel all through out. It felt like they experimented a lot by not trying to make it look like a typical romantic-comedy. The concept was fresh, I actually thought it wouldn’t be executed well, I’m glad that they proved me wrong. But above everything else, it’s the actor’s acting and chemistry that got me hooked. The Geun-Geun Couple (Jang GEUN Suk and Moon GEUN Young) are absolutely adorable.

Visually speaking, their clothing choice fits the show’s concept and adds color to its already colorful ambiance. I personally liked Moo Kyul’s graffiti filled home and Mae Ri’s fairytale like room. All their rooms speak more about their personality.

Overall, it’s a lovely drama, visually satisfying and good enough to watch during your free time. If the drama was a book, it would be a hit for me. But still, it’s not exactly a best-seller.
